Atrium is desktop design software for interior design, furniture and cabinetry. You design with real products: parts, assemblies and materials that carry real sizes, real materials and real prices. Atrium connects to Bond, the web platform at bonddh.ir where the business side of a project lives.

Design with real products, real prices.

#What you do in Atrium

  • Build materials with colors, textures, realistic rendering and a price.
  • Model parts: hardware as solids, profiles as cross-sections that run along a path, and boards in several thicknesses.
  • Compose freely. Arrange parts and sub-assemblies however you like - partitions, desks, reception counters, shelving, wall panelling, cabinets - including shapes that are nothing like a box: boards of any outline, profiles along any path, sculpted parts from Rhino.
  • Make it dynamic with inputs and formulas. Change a partition's length and the panel count follows; change a desk's width and its top, rails and legs follow.
  • Add processes like holes, grooves, pockets, edge banding, chamfers and rounds, and see them in the model as you design.
  • Draw the floor plan of a space: walls, partitions, rooms, doors, windows and outlets. It's the same plan Bond's web app draws.
  • Ask the AI assistant to make changes, check your design or research products, when you're signed in to Bond.

#Who it's for

#Companies and workshops

You build your catalog once: materials, parts and assemblies with your own codes and prices. You price the parts, materials and processes, and Bond works out the price of each assembly from them. Every assembly you save carries its bill-of-materials data to Bond, so the design and the production data come from the same source.

Your team signs in with the company's Bond account. The company administrator controls who has access, and there is no separate Atrium license to buy.

#Designers and freelancers

You design with products that companies actually make, from their catalogs and the Bond library, so the price you show a client is a real one. For personal use, Atrium starts with a 30-day trial, then needs a personal license key. See Install & first run.

#End clients

Clients don't need Atrium. They see the design, the price and the timing through their designer.

#How Atrium is organized

Everything in Atrium builds on the level below it. There are two chains to know: one for products, and one for projects.

#The product chain

Material → Tool → Process → Part → Assembly → Plan

  • Material: what something is made of. Its color or texture, how it renders, and its price.
  • Tool: a physical cutter, such as a drill bit or a router bit. You draw the shape of its cutting edge. Tools are optional: a process knows its own size without one.
  • Process: work done on a part: drilling, grooves, pockets, edge banding, chamfers, rounds and cuts. Your company sets the price, time and unit of each process.
  • Part: a single component. There are three kinds, described below.
  • Assembly: parts and smaller assemblies combined, with inputs and formulas. A partition, a desk, a counter, a cabinet - or a piece of your own.
  • Plan: the floor plan of the space. Today you draw the existing state of each floor or unit. Placing assemblies on the plan is on the roadmap.

A part is 0D, 1D or 2D depending on where its size comes from:

Kind What it is Its size comes from Examples
0D A complete solid The model itself (fixed size) Hinge, screw, handle
1D A cross-section that runs along a path The path you draw in an assembly Aluminum profile, door frame, trim
2D A board with a thickness The shape you draw in an assembly MDF panel, shelf, glass top

Read more in Parts: 0D, 1D and 2D.

#The project structure

Project → Edition → Alternative → Plan

  • Project: a job for a client, with a name, code and address. The site surveys, which record the existing state of each floor or unit, belong to the project and are shared by all of its alternatives.
  • Edition: a numbered round of the project. An edition moves through stages: design, design check, sales, financial, analysis and production.
  • Alternative: one design option inside an edition.
  • Plan: a sheet for one floor, unit or zone, based on a site survey.

Projects live in Bond, and Atrium opens them straight from your company's server. See Projects and Plan.

#Atrium and Bond

Atrium and Bond split the work between them:

Atrium (desktop) Bond (web)
Role Where you design Where the business happens
You use it to Build materials, parts and assemblies, draw plans, and compute bill-of-materials data Manage company catalogs, the Bond library, projects, BOM and pricing for each alternative, and scheduling

Bond's quotes, tenders and ordering are on the way. See the roadmap.

Works without a Bond account too. In local mode, Atrium keeps everything on your computer. Signing in to Bond adds your company's catalog, the Bond library, shared projects and the AI assistant. See Atrium and Bond.

#What's next

Atrium is under active development, and new versions arrive often. Every change is listed in the changelog.

Coming soon

These are planned but not in Atrium yet: CNC machine file (G-code) export, cut-list and nesting optimization, AI rendering inside Atrium, parametric building elements in the plan (layered walls, parametric doors and windows), and revolve and sweep modeling.
